#KWENTONGISKWAD: SISTERS FOR LIFE
Written by: Trisha Paola Tangan
Most people would say that high school life is the best part of any teenager’s life, but
these girls do not say so. Their story of friendship began when they had to sit next to each other, since their class had to be alphabetically arranged.
These
girls are former students of Centro Escolar University, Manila and yes, it is
true that they hear chants of activists in Mendiola but their chitchats could
go louder than chants every time they are together.
According
to these college friends, it was toxic to memorize all sorts of drugs but they
handled the stress well through their strong bond.
Just
like any other iskwad, they love
doing things together – from eating their favorite sisig dish during lunch, shopping in malls around the Metro, and
even going for a hike.
It
was not a completely sunny day at all for their friendship – it was tested with
storms. Their bond was challenged when Hasel was transferred to another
section. Meanwhile, others became irregular which required them to have their
subjects along with different sections - leaving Alyka and Vern in their
section.
Their
friendship was tested yet it remained true and rooted in love. It remained strong and together they set aside the idea that they do not belong to
the same class anymore.
When
Alyka was asked what made their friendship different from others’, she purely
said:
Hmm. Siguro the perfect word to describe it kung bakit different is that - I think we were destined. Ewan ko. Corny, pero parang ganoon eh. Nagkataon na may mature at immature sa amin, kaya nagkakasundo kami. Although, hindi naman kami sobrang naiiba sa ibang friendships, since may ups and downs din kami, pero kasi kami ‘yung tipo ng magkakaibigan na hindi kayang tiisin ‘yung isa’t isa.
They
started their college life with a vision that someday they will be called
pharmacists and destiny didn’t fail them. These visions turned to reality. As they look back, yesterday they were wearing white school uniforms
battling sleepless nights and deadlines. Now, they wear white coats having the
name of hospitals and pharmacies they work for.
